This Soviet medal is the Medal For Mine Clearing, issued in the mid to late 80s. This medal was issued to soldiers involved in mine mine and explosive clearing operations such as those during the Soviet-Afghan War (1979-1989). The text translates to, "For Mine Clearing". Notably the soldier depicted on the center is using an older UMIV-1 mine detector from the 1950s. The medal is made from an aluminum alloy and held by a folding pin.
