This Ethiopian banknote represents the 1st denomination of the Second Birr (Series 1997). The observe features an illustration of young boy, with native Raya cattle. The reverse depicts Blue Nile Falls, known locally as Tis Abay (the Great Smoke). Notably the dual-dating is due to the differences between the Gregorian and Ge'ez dating systems.
