This late Cold War Somali banknote represents the 2nd denomination of 1991 Currency Reform Series. The observe depicts a Somali artisan weaving on a hand loom. The reverse a Somali man in traditional dress, with 3 children on a donkey. (Note Size: 140 x 70 mm or 5.51 x 2.76 in)

The Currency Reform series was printed under the orders of President-General Siad Barré (1910-1995), in 1990. Then seized by the "Mogadishu Northern Forces", under United Somali Congress (USC) interim President Ali Mahdi Mohamed. During Somalia's rapid descent into civil war, in 1991.
