The Travels of Marco Polo: 1,000 Lires (Italy, 1982)-Reference

This ornate Italian banknote represents the 1st denomination of the Lira (Emission 1982-83). The observe features a portrait of Venetian explorer Marco Polo (1254-324), who documented his travels on the Silk Road. The reverse depicts the façade of the Doge’s Palace, in Venice.
